The classic search for a partner

There was a time when the internet was only available over a landline and the best network was your friends in the neighborhood. Back then, people mostly looked for partners within this small network. You only had to mention that you were looking, and five friends already had suitable suggestions. A first date was promptly organized, and it often worked out. If it didn't work this way, you went out in the evening and looked around at the bar. It was common to strike up an acquaintance there, women were open to a conversation and men were the hunters. Dates were spontaneous, and you had no time to worry about the right clothes or topics of conversation. Everything happened intuitively. Getting to know each other was rather relaxed and casual, and if the first date went flawlessly and without a faux pas, a second or third meeting followed. Over time, people got to know and love each other. Otherwise, they ended the relationship.

Dating 2.0

These days people are much more demanding when it comes to looking for a partner. Everyone who has already gathered some life experience has their own baggage to carry. Stories and experiences that can be very interesting and revealing, especially for a new partner. This involves taking a closer look at the other person's professional and private situation. The search for the supposedly big, intolerable flaw can strongly influence the decision, whether with the heart or the head. The reasons for this uncertainty lie in the fact that we are quite indecisive about choosing a partner and find it much harder to make a firm decision. We are spoiled for choice by the wide range of dating options!

Out and about offline...

Offline dating has almost been forgotten, and online platforms offer unlimited opportunities to meet the perfect partner. It is no longer unusual for weeks to pass before you meet in person. After all, you first want to know everything about the potential partner before you invest your valuable time in a date. It seems that when you're looking for a partner, a whole questionnaire is needed before you decide to meet. What used to be the first impression has become the grand finale. That doesn't mean it has lost any importance, though. It often fails at the first date and the way you come across, even if everything else fits. It may just as well be that personal charisma completes the perfect picture.

A pure waste of time?

People are still looking for partners, and finding them. In the past, you invested time in the relationship to see whether it worked. Today you invest the same time to analyze whether a relationship could work. In both cases, it ultimately comes down to the chemistry between the two people.
